EAST GLACIER, Mont. (NMB) – Two people were killed on Saturday afternoon when vehicles collided on US Highway 2 near East Glacier.
Montana Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at about 12:57 PM Saturday at mile marker 212.9, between Browning and East Glacier.
The crash report state that a 37-year-old male from Ohio was driving a Chevy Silverado eastbound when he over-corrected after drifting off the right side of the road. A Ford Taurus heading westbound tried to avoid the collision by traveling into a borrow pit. The Silverado then struck the Taurus in the borrow pit.
The Ohio man, who was wearing a seat-belt, was injured but refused medical treatment.
The two occupants of the Taurus, the 58-year-old male driver and 48-year-old female passenger, both East Glacier Park residents, were not wearing seat-belts and were declared dead at the scene.
Drugs and excessive speed are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The names of the victims have not been released.
