(Chouteau County) Two field fires broke out in Chouteau County along Highway 80 late last week.
The Chouteau County Sheriff’s Office says that responders from Geraldine were paged out within minutes of getting the call early last Thursday. Shortly thereafter, another fire was reported, responded to by the Fort Benton Fire Department.
The cause is currently unknown. The breadth of the fire was attributed to the high winds and dry ground conditions which caused it to spread very quickly.
The fires were put out the same day, and no injuries were reported.
