HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) ― Big Sandy and Havre High School choirs will perform Tuesday, March 3 on the PBS show “Celebrate America Across Montana” at 7 p.m.
Both choirs originally recorded their music Jan 20-21 at the PBS Studios in Bozeman.
Big Sandy Choir Director Tim Bond says the 38 choir troop was nervous but once they stepped into the recording studio and began to sing the nerves washed away.
“As the day got closer, they started freaking out a bit more, of course as it is. But once they stepped into the studio and sang they felt a lot more comfortable with themselves and, you know, the cameras and such. They had more fun with it. They got to really experience kind of the awe of what was going on.”
Bond says they only had a couple weeks to really polish the song but the students’ passion for music made all the difference.
“So many of them do so many other things and the fact that they’re still having the passion and drive for music – it always astounds me every day. At first they were nervous but then once they kinda were involved in it they were like, this is cool! They were down.”
The Big Sandy High School Choir will be performing “Let There be Peace on Earth” arranged by Tim Janis and the Havre High School Choir will be performing “The Storm is Passing Over” arranged by Jordan Dollins.
If you pledge while watching the broadcast on PBS, you will receive a CD and a DVD of the choir’s music. If the school receives five or more pledges they will be put into a drawing for a $200 Gift Certificate.
