(Missoula) – The University of Montana plans to conduct multiple prescribed burns this fall on university-administered lands.
Starting late September through the end of October, fire crews will focus efforts primarily at the Lubrecht Experimental Forest off Highway 200 near Greenough.
The planned burns aim to reduce hazardous vegetation, improve wildlife habitat, and provide critical field training for UM students.Smoke will be visible along Highway 200 and may settle into low-lying areas overnight. Drivers and nearby residents should use caution.Operations are weather-dependent and will be monitored closely by fire personnel.
