HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The University of Montana’s Big Sky Poll finds most Montanans would rather vote by mail this fall.
Though 57 percent felt in-person voting was the safer method, 66 percent would prefer to cast their ballots by mail this November.
Along with this preference, the poll showed the state seems to be split on how these ballots should be counted whether they are cast in person or not.
44 percent of Montanans think mail-in ballots should only be counted if they are postmarked by election day and the other 47 percent think they should only be counted if they are received at the election office before the polls are officially closed.
This poll was carried out June 17-26 and had a margin of error of +/- 4.31 percentage points with a 95 percent confidence level.
