Vande Bogart Library Open to Students after Wind Storm Damage

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Despite a portion of the roof of the Vande Bogart Library on the MSU-Northern campus being blown off during last week’s wind storm, the building remains open for use by students and faculty, according to University Relations Director Jim Potter.

“What actually happened was the waterproof membrane, the corner of it lifted, the wind got under it and just ripped it right off. So structurally, the building was fine. So it was easy to just put a new waterproof membrane down. Even though it is temporary, it is a pretty solid fix.”

There was also some damage to the chiller which will have to be fixed.

Other than the library, Potter says there was some minor damage around campus that they are still assessing.

Potter adds that all buildings on campus are being inspected for safety after the storm.

Potter says a permanent fix to the library roof will be done this summer, and is hopeful that insurance will be able to cover a good portion of the cost.
