Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash Claims Life of Worden Woman

(Worden) – A sixty-seven-year-old Worden woman has died following a vehicle-pedestrian crash in Yellowstone County on Monday evening.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the incident occurred around seven p.m. at the intersection of W I Road and North Eleventh Road near Worden. According to investigators, an uninvolved man had stopped to pick up debris from the roadway. A female resident from a nearby home came out to investigate the situation. While she was speaking with the man, a Dodge R-2500 pickup truck approached them. Authorities say the woman attempted to get the driver’s attention using a large flashlight, but the pickup struck her.

The driver of the truck, a forty-year-old man from Huntley, was not injured. The female pedestrian was transported to St. Vincent’s hospital in Billings, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Montana Highway Patrol indicates that both speed and alcohol are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
