HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Monday morning, Havre’s local VFW conducted their annual ceremony for Veterans Day in Havre’s Town Square. Quarter Master for VFW Post 497 in Havre, Scott Prindiville says they want to recognize veterans and active military members for their sacrifice.
“Normally we have a thing in the Town Square. It was a little cold this morning, so we made it kind of quick, but. So, we come inside and have a little presentation. The Elks Club helps us out with our little presentation they do for veterans normally. So, we had that, and then we have a luncheon for everybody.”
Prindiville says that the Honor Guard is made up of members from the VFW and the American Legion.
“It means a lot, just for veterans in the community, to honor those who served our country and that continue to serve our country and just to thank our veterans. You know, those in the past and there’s a lot of older veterans here. Just say, ‘Hey, thanks for your service and for what you’ve done for our country.'”
Despite the sub-zero temperatures, dozens of people still attend both ceremonies at the Town Square and in the Elks Lodge.
