HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – This Monday marks Veterans Day, and there are several events scheduled along the Hi-Line to commemorate this federal holiday that honors our veterans.
In Havre, VFW Post 497 will be holding a ceremony at 11am in the Towne Square. Following the ceremony, there will be a short program and lunch featuring chicken noodle soup and cornbread at the Havre Elks Club.
On Monday evening from 6-10 pm at Rocky Boy High School, the Chippewa Cree Tribe will be hosting a Veterans Day event. Chauncey Parker, Executive Director for the Rocky Boy Veterans Center, says the program will include a pipe ceremony, meal, round dance and giveaways.
“It’s not something you have to dress up for. You don’t have to be in regalia. You can just show up and enjoy some good music and songs, and good company with out veterans.”
And in Chinook, VFW Post 4620 is hosting a ceremony at the Chinook High School Auditorium at 11 am.
These events are free and open to the public.
