HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Independent Record reports that a 53-year-old man from Spokane, Washington was airlifted to St. Peter’s Health in Helena after sustaining injuries in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
The man activated a locator beacon early Friday afternoon just north of the Benchmark Trailhead, according to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton.
The man was apparently riding a mule that slipped into the Sun River and rolled on top of him. The extent of the man’s injuries is unclear, but could include broken bones and/or internal injuries.
