GLENDIVE, Mont. — A fast-moving wildfire broke out Wednesday afternoon at Makoshika State Park in Dawson County, prompting full evacuation of all visitors.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks says the fire, driven by strong winds and high temperatures, was reported just after 5 p.m.
The fire’s cause and size remain unknown, but aerial suppression was requested.
All roads, trails, and facilities are closed, and visitors will be turned away until further notice.
The park may fully close if conditions worsen.
