(Yellowstone) University of Montana grad student Maddy Jackson recently spearheaded a project to digitize museum pieces from Yellowstone and make them available to anyone online.
The process involves taking 3 dimensional scans of museum pieces, in this instance wolf skulls, and creating a 3d printable version that anyone can then use.
Jackson told New Media Broadcasters that educational use is one of the biggest and best uses for this project.
“Something that I talked a lot about is the education aspect; you can use the three dimensional, digital skull to create interactive curricula online to have an interactive webpage for students to go through and look at three dimensional skulls and manipulate them online. Or, you can 3D print them and have a physical copy” said Jackson.
