(Hill County Health Department) The Hill County Health Department confirmed one case of pertussis (per-too-sis), or Whooping Cough, in Hill County has of January 7th 2025.
The Department released some ways to best protect your family from this disease, which is very contagious and is particularly dangerous for infants and young children.
Hill County is recommending that those who are not vaccinated against pertussis get their immunization as soon as possible. The vaccine is given in combination with diphtheria and tetanus.
It is especially important that parents monitor their children for cough like illness and ideally withhold them from school until a diagnosis against whooping cough has been given.
