FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – Two people were arrested on Wednesday morning following a vehicle pursuit that started on the Fort Belknap Reservation.
A press release from the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office says they were notified at 7:39 AM Wednesday that Fort Belknap Police were pursuing a vehicle on Route 66 heading south towards US 191.
Sheriff Jerry Lytle, Undersheriff Kevin Metcalf, and Deputy Seth Sanguins engaged and started driving south of Malta towards the pursuit.
The pursuit continued towards Landusky, then to 7 Mile Road, then to Bear Gulch Road and towards US 191. Sheriff Lytle successfully deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Bear Gulch Road and US 191, puncturing the rear driver’s side of the suspect vehicle.
The vehicle came to a stop and the driver and passenger were taken into custody by Fort Belknap Police. The vehicle was towed to Malta.
No further information, including the identity of the suspects or potential charges, is currently available.
