2 People Cited in Havre Tuesday for Animal Cruelty

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Two people were issued citations on Tuesday on separate animal cruelty charges in Havre.

Assistant Havre Police Chief Jason Barkus says that Jose Olin was arrested early Tuesday after a neighbor called to report that Olin and a woman were yelling and that Olin had kicked and yelled at a dog. Olin was initially charged with animal cruelty, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. As of Wednesday morning, Olin was being held at the Hill County Detention Center on a $1,105 bond.

Later that afternoon, Carolyn Johnsrud was cited for animal cruelty after Havre Police received a call about a dog being locked in a hot car that was parked in downtown Havre.

Barkus says that both dogs appear to be ok.
