DEER LODGE, Mont. (NMB) – Two teenagers were killed and two were injured in a rollover early Saturday morning in Deer Lodge, and the Montana Highway Patrol says alcohol use and excessive speed are suspected factors.
The MHP says the crash occurred just after midnight when a southbound Mazda 3 failed to negotiate a sharp curve to the left and overcorrected, causing it to slide off the road, trip into a ditch and roll multiple times.
It is unclear who the driver was, as none of the four occupants of the vehicle, two 19-year-old males from Deer Lodge and two 17-year-old females from Anaconda, were wearing seatbelts.
Three of the occupants were ejected, and a Deer Lodge male and Anaconda female were pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupants were transported to a local hospital.
The road was dry.
