Another winter sport that started this past week at Havre High was swimming. New Media Broadcasters spoke with head coach Jill Cammon, who detailed her past relationships with swimmers as being a cohesive factor in making the program a success.
“I was the head coach and then I was an assistant for several years and now the head coaching position has come back to me,” Cammon said.
“It’s been fun to coach the team from all angles,” Cammon said, “I enjoy a close relationship with my swimmers. They’re great kids and I like to support them in their goals and their competitions.”
The Havre swimming team began practicing last week and is poised for a big season in 2023-24. Cammon said why the group is so balanced between the returners and newcomers.
“It’s been going really well,” Cammon said. “I think we have a lot of potential on our team.”
“We have a lot of new swimmers and then we have many that are returning (also),” Cammon continued. “It’s going to be a fun season bringing them together as a team and watching them compete and grow.”
More details on the Havre Blue Pony roster for the swimming program will be released next week as New Media Broadcasters continues to preview the 2023-24 winter sports.
