HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The 45th Annual Economic Outlook Seminar is happening at MSU-Northern Tuesday, March 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research Patrick Barkey says this year’s theme is Finding Good Workers and it’s all about helping businesses forecast economic conditions and attracting talent.
“It’s looking at the issues, challenging the labor force and challenging employers and all businesses to find talented workers for their job openings. It’s an exciting program. It’s very much in-depth and it’s also all about Montana.”
Barkey says the seminar offers continuing education credits and will have a vast array of speakers who will be talking about agriculture, tourism, energy, housing, healthcare and manufacturing.
“This is an opportunity to learn about the forces that are shaping our economic future, the things that are changing, things that we can predict – we try to predict. Our predictions are not always perfect of course. It is a difficult business after all. But it is an opportunity to understand what kinds of things going on in the economy have legs and are likely to continue and what kind of things are going to be shorter lived.”
The full cost to attend is $90 per person. Students and individuals associated with a university are $25 and groups of five are $60.
