HILL COUNTY (NMB) The Hill County Health Department announced in a Wednesday morning press release there is one presumptive case of monkeypox in a Hill County Adult.
Kimberly Berg, the health department Director and Health Officer for Hill County has advice to prevent contracting and spreading the virus.
“What you really should be doing to prevent monkeypox spread is washing you hands frequently, covering your cough, staying home when you’re are sick, and monitoring for symptoms. If you are around somebody who has monkeypox, you should be monitoring yourself for symptoms for up to 21 days.”

some of the symptoms for monkeypox include
- Fever
- Chills
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Exhaustion
- Muscle aches and backache
- Headache
- Respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, or cough)
Berg say there are no at-home test kits for monkeypox so if anyone suspects they are showing symptoms they should contact their health care provider, or with questions call the Health Department at 406-400-2415
