(NMB) Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen recently announced the opening of the state’s fifth annual Constitution Contest for Montana’s students, and she told New Media Broadcasters that all students in grades K-12 can participate.
“We contact all of the teachers in the state of Montana, especially the ones that are teaching Government classes and encourage all the kids to participate in the Constitution contest.”
The theme of this year’s contest is “What does the Declaration of Independence mean to me.”
To enter, students are invited to submit an essay, artwork, poem, photography, or any creative expression they would like. Essays should have a maximum of 500 words. The contest is open to all grade school and high school students, including those in home school and private school settings.
Winners will receive prizes and may be invited to share their entries in next year’s Constitution Day celebration. The entry deadline is October 17th.
