Water Restrictions for the City of Havre

(Havre) – The Havre Department of Public Works announced on Monday that the Havre Water treatment Facility has reached full capacity and is unable to meet additional water demands at this time. Trevor Mork the Director of Public Works for the city of Havre talks about the current water restrictions.

“Currently, the Havre water treatment plant is still producing quality water safe for drinking however we are unable to meet the with the current demand usage. We are asking the people of Havre if you do not need to use water for things such as lawn or grass irrigation or washing cars, please refrain at this time. We are working on making improvements and repairs throughout the water treatment plant itself as well as within the distribution system, and we’re just trying to conserve water is the best we can.”

Mork also talked about how these restrictions will affect the City of Havre.

“City of Havre Parks and Recreation have restricted their water usage down to the bare minimum that they are able to attain and will go to zero watering if need be. There are other entities throughout the city of Havre such as Havre public schools, Montana State University Northern, and the Hi-Land Cemetery that also irrigate their lawns, but they are on well systems as well as the Northern Montana Hospital and not attached to the Havre water distribution system and if they are they have been asked to restrict their usage as well.”

Mork went on to talk about how these restrictions will impact the residents of Havre.

“We’re asking to restrict usage to ensure that drinking water will be produced and available. As well as the ability to fight fires in that case of need or other necessary activities that depend upon water. Thus, we are asking for you to restrict water for non-essential uses such as water irrigation for lawns or washing of vehicles.”
