HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Friday, the Society for Range Management International Mountain Section will be hosting their summer tour in the Havre area. Board Member for the International Mountain Section Rick Caquelin says during their annual tour, they will talk about the research that’s been going on at the Northern Ag Research Center near Fort Assiniboine. They’ll also take a look at the 2017 East Fork Fire area and the impacts grazing has had there.
“We’ll be visiting with folks there about their residual feed intake studies, the livestock grazing distribution, updates on studies they’ve done at the Thackery Ranch, pasture renovation work they’re doing right now to try and develop some ways to renovate crested wheatgrass pastures efficiently.”
Caquelin says that people can still register for the tour.
“They can do that simply by calling myself, it’s 781-9208. Leave me a message. I’ll be out of service, probably, most of the week. And the reason we’re asking for sign up is just so we can have a head count for lunch. It’s $25.”
