Havre Dog Park Club to Clean Up Site Saturday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Dog Park Club invites the public to help them clean up the site of their new dog park on Saturday afternoon. Treasurer Juanita Sanborn says they will meet from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday at the site, which is just behind the Havre Ice Dome. There are chunks of old cement, big rocks, and holes that need to be fixed, as well as picking up garbage that blows into the area.

“We would welcome anybody with shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows. We’re going to have a truck and hopefully, maybe, a trailer to take out all the garbage and anything we find, we’re going to take to the dump. So, we just need help getting it to the truck or trailer so we can take it out to the dump.”

Sanborn says their next step is getting the fencing installed, but they need the funding first.

“The fencing’s actually very expensive. We are up to a little over $6,000, but we need more like $20,000 plus just to do the fence. And then, of course we’re going to need places for benches and places for garbage cans and dispensers for the little poop bags.”

Sanborn says they are still raising money for the fencing and that this will be an ongoing project.
