HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Tuesday night, the Great Northern Fair Board met to discuss how the 2019 Fair went last week. Fair Board Chairman Tyler Smith says some members of the public also attended and shared their comments. People seemed concerned about the lack of some booths in the commercial building, how many rides the carnival brought, and the drop in attendance for the Indian Relay Races that went over well last year.
“They were disappointed at the turnout in the commercial building. And, I really think that will be, you know, up to our manager to go around and essentially be a salesperson to get people in the commercial booth. We’ll probably reduce that rate a little bit.”
Smith says they will be working with the carnival to ensure bigger and better rides make it to the next Great Northern Fair.
“There was a few carnival comments that, you know, they’d like to see more. We actually had a discussion with the carnival operator and he indicated that staffing was an issue why there wasn’t more there. So after the fair season is over we’re going to get together with him and see what we can do to help him.”
Smith says their regular meetings are the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM at the new office on the Great Northern Fairgrounds.
