HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana State University-Northern’s fall semester is well underway and Chancellor Greg Kegel says that the unofficial numbers indicate their enrollment is up some this year and their retention rate went up substantially.
Kegel attributes these positive numbers to numerous improvements that have been made to the campus over the last several years.
“We’re going to be right at about 1,110 students. (Our usual retention rate), well, we’ve been running about 58% and it’s close to 70 right now. So we’re, I mean, substantially better.”
Kegel believes the new Diesel Technology Building is only one of many improvements that have contributed to these higher numbers.
“Every improvement across the campus makes a difference. Every single thing that we do, whether it’s underground sprinkling system and greening up a lawn, whether it’s the renovation in the bottom of the SUB, the top of the SUB, quality of life for the student when they’re on the campus, you know the classrooms, the dorms, all those common areas. We put a lot of attention, a lot of detail into that.”
Kegel says they are getting ready to formally announce the fundraising efforts for the new proposed sports complex that he hopes will be ready for games next spring.
