FORT BENTON, Mont. (NMB) – Christmas kicks off today in Chouteau County with a series of holiday celebrations. Event Organizer Connie Jenkins says the 20th annual Chouteau County Country Christmas will feature events in the communities of Shonkin, Geraldine, Fort Benton, Loma, Virgelle, and Big Sandy.
“Saturday at Big Sandy, they have all kinds of things going on. There are the Grocery Store, they have drawings and fund prizes. At the Mint you can have breakfast with Santa. At Craig Edwards Gallery, there’ll be a giveaway of $1,000 worth of fine art photography. The Senior Center will have a bake sale.”
A group of students from Geraldine are using the event to help raise money for a trip.
“In Geraldine on Sunday, December 8th, they have vendors. They have Indian tacos, a kids carnival corner, and the money is being raised for the kids to go to Washington, D.C. An entry is two cans of non-perishable food for the Food Bank.”
