HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre School Board of Trustees met for their regular meeting Tuesday night and had another short agenda. Superintendent of Schools Andy Carlson says that the School Board evaluated themselves and his office, as well as recognized some students who made All-State.
“The Board evaluation instrument, they approved that. That’s kind of how they go over grading themselves, you might say. They will respond to that and they’ll look at how they run their meetings, how they work with each other. Once they get the results they talk through that. It’s a good way for the Board to monitor themselves.”
Carlson says he’s asked his staff for evidence of learning, beyond their assessment scores.
“There’s so much more that measures success of students and schools. When I asked for that, one of the first pieces I got, Mr. Kraske sent me the very first day of students just making sounds in the 6th Grade band classroom and I kept that on my phone because that’s such an evidence of learning taking place over the course of a year.”
Carlson encourages the public to attend the schools’ holiday concerts as we approach the winter break.
