HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana State University-Northern has been forced to adapt in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All classes have been moved online and on-campus events, including Spring Commencement, have been canceled.
Chancellor Greg Kegel says that when on-campus learning resumes, there will be significant changes.
“We’re hopeful that there’s things that we can do. Smaller classrooms, dorm rooms with single occupants, just things like that that we’re all right now trying to get our hands on what would be the best avenue, the best direction, if we’re going to reopen up.”
Kegel says although they have not had to furlough any employees, the pandemic has hampered the University financially.
“Reimbursement for room and board, for instance, is going to be in the $200,000-$250,000 range. The other revenues, we haven’t added those up, but it’ll be significant.”
