BLAINE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – One person was killed and four were injured in a crash in eastern Blaine County early Sunday morning.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash occurred at around 1:10 AM near mile marker eight on secondary road 396, several miles east of Harlem.
A 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling westbound when the driver, a 20 year-old male from Hays, lost control. The vehicle went into a ditch and rolled approximately two times before coming to rest on the road.
One of the passengers, a 23 year-old male from Dodson, was killed.
Another passenger, a 20 year-old female from Bozeman, was flown to Benefis Hospital.
The driver and three passengers were transported to Indian Health Service.
The passengers transported to Indian Health Service were a 20 year-old female from Havre, a 20 year-old female from Hays, and a 23 year-old male from Dodson. The male from Dodson was declared dead.
The severity of the injuries is not clear.
None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
The road was dry at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
