BOX ELDER, Mont. (NMB) – On Thursday night, the Rocky Boy Fire Department received a call about a wildland fire that started along a Lower Box Elder Road outside of Box Elder. Fire Management Officer Theron Oats said that the call came in at about 9 PM that night and the fire burned about 50 acres.
The fire was under control by about 2 AM and they were on the scene until 3 AM Friday morning. Oats said that they usually aren’t fighting wildland fires this time of year, but the lack of snow cover, dry grass, and windy conditions caused the fire to spread.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
