HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana State University-Northern has updated a few safety protocols in light of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases across the state.
MSU-Northern Director Jim Potter said their making these adjustments because their goal is to keep students engaged and learning no matter what.
“We really do want them to come away with a safe and consistent, quality education in all of this. So, we are taking a lot of precautions to achieve that.”
This fall, MSU-Northern will be providing a flexible content delivery model for students who may not be able to attend classes in person because of the virus. This will enable students to take courses online and have access to learning resources through a variety of mediums.
Along with this, the university will be broadening their safety guidelines on campus. Potter said with this, classrooms will have new capacity limits and cleaning procedures.
“We are setting up every classroom to achieve social distancing. So, we are taking chairs out. We’re setting up the computer labs so that there are not as many available computers – that would automatically space people out to six feet. We are taking a lot of safety protocols to make sure people are safe.”
Potter said MSU-Northern will also be providing face masks and hand sanitizer to students when they return to campus this fall.
