HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Hill County man has been sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections, none suspended, with credit for 72 days already served after pleading guilty to felony partner or family member assault.
Cameron James Eagleman, 38, was sentenced on July 13th by Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz in Hill County District Court.
As part of the plea agreement, the charges of felony attempted tampering with witness and informants and misdemeanor negligent endangerment, unlawful restraint and resisting arrest were dismissed.
The court also recommended Eagleman be screened for chemical dependency and an appropriate violence intervention program.
Court documents state that in October 2019, Eagleman choked and bruised a woman during a domestic dispute.
This is Eagleman’s fifth partner or family member assault or similar statute conviction. Previous convictions occurred in July 2007 (Havre City Court), December 2007 (Havre City Court), February 2009 (Yakima Municipal Court), and November 2010 (Hill County District Court).
In a separate case, Eagleman pleaded not guilty to six felonies earlier this month on allegations that he assaulted and stalked a woman that he was legally ordered not to come in contact with.
Those charges include include aggravated burglary, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, partner or family member assault, strangulation of a partner or family member and stalking.
No future court dates have been set in that case.
Eagleman remains in the Hill County Detention Center, where he has been since June 23rd.
