HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board met on Tuesday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting.
No votes were cast, but numerous issues were discussed.
- Funding for the 4-H sidewalk project has reached half of its goal. They are hoping for a grant to cover the remaining expenses and would like to complete the project this spring
- The Board discussed the need to purchase security cameras after receiving reports of people stalling animals and not paying, and of other people taking hay that is not theirs. Members of the Board plan to reach out to get quotes on a cost of installing cameras
- The Board continued discussions on purchasing a used side-by-side, and a vote is expected to be had next meeting after they get a quote
- A project to pave the campground will have to go out for a formal bid, meaning it will not be completed until next year
- Plans to redesign the Grandstand remain in the early phase, and the Board will need to put out a request for design proposals and hold a public meeting before any work can be done. They plan to also meet with Bear Paw Development in the coming weeks to discuss possible funding help.
- The project to improve the interior of the Bigger Better Barn is continuing, with work expected to ramp up next month
The Board also said that a Drive-Thru food event will be held over the weekend on the Fairgrounds.
The Lions Club will be selling Pronto Pups and cheese fries on Saturday from 11 AM-8 PM and Sunday from 11 AM-6 PM. Those interested in purchasing food are asked to enter the Fairgrounds through the southeast gate.
The next Fair Board meeting is scheduled for October 20th.
