HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A private plane safely made an emergency landing at the Havre City-County Airport on Tuesday morning after suffering an engine failure.
Airport Manager Tony Dolphay says when the Beechcraft 1900 twin-engine plane was about 40 miles from Havre, they received notice from air traffic control in Salt Lake City that the plane needed to make an emergency landing.
There was no smoke or fire at the scene, and but Havre Fire Department and Havre Police Department were notified at 11:13 AM and went to the airport as a precautionary measure.
The only person in the plane was the pilot. No one was injured. It is unclear where the plane departed from and where its intended destination was.
The plane remained at the airport as of Wednesday morning as technicians worked to fix the engine.
Dolphay says these incidents are very infrequent, and estimates this is only the second time in five years the airport has hosted an emergency landing.
