FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council has made the decision to extend the shutdown of the Reservation through the end of November.
This is the third time the shutdown, which initially went into place on October 2nd, has been extended by two weeks.
The decision to extend the shutdown came on the recommendation of the Incident Command Team.
The Reservation also remains under a daily curfew from 9 PM to 6 AM.
All stores on the Reservation continue to be directed to close their businesses by 7 PM daily and to prohibit alcohol sales.
Fort Belknap residents are still able to get essential supplies, groceries and medical care.
The Council also urges residents to keep Holiday gatherings to immediate household members only.
Although COVID-19 cases are on a downward trend on the Reservation, the Council says the community “must remain vigilant to continue to keep the numbers going down.”
As of November 12th, there have been 286 total COVID-19 cases on the Fort Belknap Reservation. 32 are active, including six hospitalizations. 254 have recovered and seven have died.
