HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Park Board met at the Great Northern Fairgrounds on Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting.
Superintendent Chad Edgar provided a brief update on the cattle grazing season at Beaver Creek Park, which concluded on December 31st. Edgar says this was a smooth season, and just one cow was fatally hit by a vehicle at the park, a record low.
More information recapping the cattle grazing season will be provided at their February meeting.
Edgar also provided updates on several other matters in his Superintendent report. He says several ‘No Hunting’ signs have been placed in the park after an issue with an online mapping system caused confusion among hunters. The Park is working with OnX maps to correct the issue.
Edgar says park usage has remained pretty slow as of late, but there are still people ice fishing and some people hiking due to warmer than average weather.
Edgar says almost all weekends at Camp Kiwanis have already been booked for the upcoming year, and they sold a record number of permits in 2020.
Also discussed at the meeting was cabin inspections, which were recently completed. The Board said that around a dozen cabins were deemed in excellent condition, most were satisfactory, and two were deemed deficient. The Board will be sending letters to cabin owners with more information.
Before the meeting adjourned, June Grabofski announced her resignation from the Board, effective immediately. Grabofski had served on the Board since 2011, and her current term is set to expire in May 2022. The Board will now have to put out a notice seeking a replacement.
