FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council have announced they have extended the shutdown of the Reservation through January 25th.
The shutdown initially went into place on October 2nd, and has now been extended several times. It was recently modified to allow stores to remain open until 8 PM and to allow alcohol sales.
Curfew restrictions, mask mandates, social distancing, travel restrictions and quarantine and isolation restrictions remain in place.
The Council says the extension of the shutdown is a precautionary measure after the holidays and will allow time for the vaccine to take effect for those that have been inoculated.
As of Tuesday evening, Fort Belknap has reported a total of 352 COVID-19 cases. One is active, 351 people are considered recovered, and 12 Reservation residents have died.
