HAVRE, MONT – Wednesday’s windstorm blew through the region and saw roofs being damaged and a temporary closure of Highway 87 from Fort Benton to Great Falls. However according to Public Works Director Dave Peterson damage around Havre seems to be relatively minor. He explains further “As far in town here I don’t know of any major damages of trees falling on house or anything like that. I’m not sure, but I have not heard anything as of this [ 9 A.M. Thursday ] morning yet. So yeah we did hopefully dodge a pretty big bullet.”
Moving forward with branches being down around town there is a plan to get everything cleaned up. Mr. Peterson says “If people do have down trees if they get them cut up and stacked up on the boulevards we will try to the rest of this week and probably next week go through town and get any trees that have fallen, so we can get those chipped up for everybody.”
Dave Peterson expressed they don’t have to get the branches into small lengths, getting them to the curb will be sufficient.
