GLASGOW, Mont. (NMB) – A Michigan man has been penalized after being found guilty in an unlicensed outfitting operation in Phillips and Valley Counties.
Wendall Matson of Birch Run, Michigan was ordered to pay over $10,000 in fines and restitution and has lost hunting, fishing and trapping privileges in Montana for 18 months.
Matson was charged with 12 counts of outfitting without a license, three counts of outfitting in a Block Management area, and one count of soliciting the offense of hunting without landowner permission.
Matson was a formerly licensed guide that worked with outfitters in the Hinsdale and Glasgow area. He operated as an unlicensed outfitter on Block Management and public lands from 2016-2018.
