HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – For the second time this year, hundreds of food boxes are set to be given out in the Community Alliance Church parking lot in Havre.
Pastor Munya Takawira says this giveaway is thanks to the generosity of the community and a partnership with the USDA’s Farmers to Families Program.
“One of the things that things that has been a great blessing is we’ve had different members of the community help us out with the delivery. We have someone that volunteers with a forklift, we have people that don’t even attend the church come in and help distribute the boxes. So we’ve had a variety of people from within the community step up and be a part of what God is doing.”
Takawira adds that there are no eligibility requirements for this giveaway, which they look to continue in the future.
“Our goal is to hopefully have this food giveaway at least once every month. Please feel free, tell your neighbor, get a box for your cousin, your nieces, your uncle, but don’t just look at your immediate needs. Look also at the needs of others that are around you. Because the whole purpose is to be a blessing to someone else.”
There are expected to be around 1,000 boxes containing meat, dairy and produce.
The giveaway will take place this Tuesday from 3:30-5:30 PM at 925 8th Street, and will be first come, first serve. It is asked that everyone please follow social distancing guidelines.
