SACO, Mont. (NMB) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has announced the start of the sealed bid process for a one-year hay lease on the Cree Crossing Wildlife Management Area (WMA) located north of Nelson Reservoir in Phillips County.
Bids will be accepted through 3 PM on June 16th. They will then be opened and read aloud at the Regional FWP office in Glasgow.
Once an Environment Assessment and public comment period is completed, FWP is looking to award the agricultural lease to help with vegetation management through the haying of approximately 43 acres of dense nesting cover to the highest bidder.
The one-time haying will take place after July 1st and all bales need to be removed by August 5th. Anyone interested in placing a bid is encouraged to attend a walk-through of the WMA on June 7th at noon.
For more information, visit the FWP Regional office in Glasgow. Those with questions can contact wildlife biologist Brett Dorak by phone at 654-2272 or by email at brett.dorak@mt.gov.
