HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A fire on Friday afternoon caused extensive damage to a single family dwelling in North Havre and sent one man to the Hospital.
Havre Fire Department Chief Mel Paulson says they were dispatched to a fire at the 1000 block of 15th Street North at 5:29 PM.
12 people from the Department headed to the scene, bringing two engines, an ambulance and a tender with them. The fire was suppressed and controlled by 7:32 PM, but the home suffered extensive damage, and it is unclear if it is salvageable.
One male was in the house at the time of the fire, but he was able to get out on his own. He was transported to Northern Montana Hospital after suffering minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Paulson says the cause of the fire is believed to be a cigarette, which may have been in the living room area.
Paulson says the incident is not under investigation.
