HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Box Elder man is facing multiple charges, including two felonies, in Hill County District Court following his alleged role in a pursuit last month.
Brandon Lee Weaselboy, 26, has been charged with the felonies of criminal endangerment and criminal mischief, as well as the misdemeanors of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and fleeing from or eluding a Peace Officer.
According to court documents, on May 25th at around 1:20 AM, officials with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist Rocky Boy Police Officers in an ongoing westbound pursuit on Lower Box Elder Road. While officers were en route, the vehicle is alleged to have gone through residential neighborhoods in Box Elder and was heading northbound on US 87 at speeds over 100 miles an hour, while also swerving into oncoming traffic and turning headlights off.
Spike strips were successfully deployed on one of the vehicle’s tires near mile marker 106. However, the pursuit continued as the vehicle approached the intersection with US 2 and headed east towards Havre. Even while the damaged tire was falling apart, the vehicle was still allegedly traveling at speeds above 80 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The vehicle then turned south on 4th Avenue in Havre and struck a pole in the Independence Bank parking lot,causing over $1,500 in damage. However, the vehicle continued driving through residential neighborhoods at around 45 mph before wrecking in front of the Bitterroot Trailer Court.
The driver, identified as Weaselboy, was immediately apprehended. He refused to provide a blood sample but admitted to being the driver for the majority of the pursuit and told a Deputy he had taken methamphetamine prior to the pursuit.
There were two passengers in the vehicle. Both were detained, but neither is facing charges in District Court and they have both since been released from custody.
Weaselboy’s arraignment is scheduled for June 21st at 9:30 AM. He remains in the Hill County Detention Center.
