BLAINE COUNTY Mont. (NMB) – Updates have been provided regarding two separate fires are burning in the Upper Missouri River Breaks Monument near the border between Blaine and Fergus Counties.
The Lone Tree Fire, located in the Ervin Ridge Wilderness Study Area (WSA) in southern Blaine County is 10 percent contained and has been determined to be 250 acres in size following improved mapping. It was initially thought to be 700 acres. Single engine airtankers and a helicopter have been ordered, as well as four engines. 25 people in total are assigned to the fire.
The 35 acre Sunshine Fire in the Woodhawk WSA in northern Fergus County remains at 100 percent containment. One helicopter and an engine were assigned to that fire, as well as engines from local volunteer fire departments and a 20 person hand crew.
There are no structures in the area.
