HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has issued an executive order declaring a statewide drought emergency in Montana.
A press release says this order directs the Departments of Agriculture, Livestock, and Natural Resources and Conservation to provide maximum assistance to the USDA on drought-related activities to secure timely assistance from the U.S. Government.
It also suspends motor regulations for motor carriers and persons operating commercial vehicles while they provide direct drought-related support.
As of June 22nd, 91 percent of Montana faces conditions that range from abnormally dry to extreme drought.
Relief from the dry conditions are not expected anytime soon, as dry and hot conditions are projected throughout the state for July.
