HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has announced the appointment of David Grubich to serve as the Judge on the Eighth Judicial District Court, located in Cascade County.
The seat has been vacant since the Montana Senate declined to confirm Michele Reinhart Levine, who was appointed to the bench by then-Governor Steve Bullock in November 2020.
Grubich has served sa District Standing Master with the Eighth District Court since August 2018 after serving at a private practice in Great Falls since 2010.
The seat will be up for election in 2022, and Levine has said she plans to run for the seat.
The appointment is the first since the 2021 Montana Legislature eliminated the Judicial Nomination Commission. One legal challenge against the elimination of the commission has failed, and another is currently being litigated.
