BLAINE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – Firefighters are continue to work on containing multiple fire starts that were reported on Thursday on Bureau of Land Management land in Blaine County.
The largest of the fires as of Friday afternoon is the Snake Point Fire at 88 acres in size with an unclear containment percentage. This is on the Missouri River Breaks Monument near Bullwhacker Road.
As of Friday afternoon, there were several other fire starts reported in the area, however most are believed to be under two acres in size.
Numerous resources, including helicopters and fire engines, have been at the scene of the fires.
No structures are believed to be threatened at this time, and the cause of all the fires has not been determined. However, lightning is believed to be the culprit for most of the fires.
Al Nash of the BLM says Friday is crucial for slowing down the fires in the area, as critical fire conditions are expected on Sunday.
