Missoula Man Sentenced for Fatal Shooting

MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – A Missoula man has been ordered to serve life in prison after admitting to fatally shooting a teenager in May 2020.

21-year-old Zakai Houck was sentenced after pleading guilty to deliberate homicide. He shot 21-year-old Jonathan Wallack in the head southwest of Missoula and left him to die on the road.

Wallack succumbed to his injuries several days after the shooting.

Houck was also ordered to pay almost $23,000 in restitution for lost wages stemming from the victim’s mother being unable to work after the incident.
