HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Bureau of Land Management wants to alert the public that water levels on the upper Missouri River are much lower than normal.
This has resulted in exposed or underwater hazards such as rocks, gravel bars, logs, or other obstacles, that could damage boats or knock vessel occupants into the water.
People should be ready for the unexpected while on the river, and everyone in vessels traveling the water body should wear a life jacket.
To check the water levels, contact the BLM’s river staff at the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center in Fort Benton, or view the U.S. Geological Survey river gauges online.
