MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – Through a DNA test, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has confirmed that the bear killed by wildlife officials last Friday was the same bear that fatally attacked a camper in Ovando in the early morning of July 6th.
The DNA samples from the bear, saliva samples at the scene of the attack, and samples from two chicken coops that were raided in the area all match up.
65-year-old Leah Davis Lokan of Chico, California was pulled out of her tent and killed in the middle of the night by the 400-pound grizzly.
